Reading Charted Knitting Patterns (Intermediate) with Deborah Burger

September 17, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

This class will teach you to understand and follow knitting charts for cables, lace, and knit-purl patterns. In 2 hours, we will learn to read and actually knit a sampler from these 3 common types of knitting charts. The project is a sampler, but in the class we talk about how to continue it until it’s a scarf.
You will need: 25-50 yds of worsted weight yarn, straight or circular #8 needles, a cable needle if you have one (loaners will be available), and stitch markers. Before class, cast on 20 stitches and knit four rows.
Maximum Class Size: 8
Artist and designer Deborah Burger is the author of Crochet 101 and How to make 100 Crochet Appliques. She has taught knitting and crochet for more than 20 years through Girl Scouting, various community centers, summer camps, yarn shops, and the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. She is active in the online community Ravelry and has written articles and patterns for Interweave Crochet and the e-zines Crochet Insider and Crochet Uncut. She lives in Belmont, NY.

This project is made possible with funds from the Friends of the Angelica Free Library and from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
